About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Charlottesville, VA 22911 .

Duties

Serves as an intelligence analyst performing professional engineer/ scientist duties. Designs innovative projects to produce targeted intelligence products related to Measurement and Signatures Intelligence (MASINT), specifically, infrared signatures. Develops and utilizes new research methodologies, including sophisticated computer models, to design innovative analytical approaches to infrared signature intelligence production. Briefs decision makers at Army level and at key customer activities, targeting presentation to audience interest and program involvement, negotiating acceptance of the Army's intelligence position. Provides advice and recommendations on infrared signature intelligence through the chain of command. Regularly represents the Center and/or the Army on intelligence community working groups and committees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in the science of radar waves and their propagation through air and interactions with objects of various materials.
