Duties
You will perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment and operate the domestic wastewater collection pumping stations.
You will manually rake the bar screen and disposes of the debris in a dedicated dumpster.
You will remove solids to a digester system and holding tank for disposal on designated application sites on base.
You will operate a reactor by controlling dissolved oxygen levels and proper mixing of the mixed liquor to adequately control ammonia and nitrate levels for nitrogen and phosphorous removal..
You will add acetic acid for a biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) (food) source to enhance the conversion of ammonia nitrogen to nitrate nitrogen in the reactor.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position requires rotating shift work.
- Must obtain the required NC Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's State Certification within six months of being hired.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Monitor and control sewage pump stations and wastewater using the plant's computer system.
