About the Position: Serve as Human Resources Specialist (Military), Personnel, Policy and Programs Office, Office of The Surgeon General (OTSG), and Army Medical Command (MEDCOM). Position is located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Duties

Serve as Human Resources Specialist (Military), Personnel, Policy and Programs Office, Office of The Surgeon General (OTSG), and Army Medical Command (MEDCOM). Interpret and apply military personnel laws and regulations relating to military personnel management, compensation, and other matters such as Defense Officer Personnel Management Act (DOPMA) requirements. Develop Military Personnel Management Policies affecting commissioned and warrant officers in promotions, assignments, accessions, appointments, separations, active duty entry/release, deployments, retirement categories, entitlements, etc. Process staffing actions including but not limited to: Appointment Waivers, Active Duty Service Obligation Waivers, Retiree Recalls, Congressional Actions, Inter-service Transfers, Delegation of Command Authority, and Conditional Releases. Develop, research, and prepare authoritative regulatory issuances, policies and guidance, and staff papers pertaining to Army Medical Department personnel policy, programs, management and administration.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 25% for this position.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
