About the Position: Incumbent, as an Emergency Services Dispatcher, provides emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.

Duties

Maintain an accurate status and availability of emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response. Provide assistance and information to medical, police, and fire personnel by acting as a liaison between department personnel and other agencies. Perform crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high-risk situations until appropriate emergency field units arrive on scene. Receive 911 calls, security system alarms, and radio messages involving emergencies, complaints, violations, accidents, or requests for information and assistance.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent is required to successfully complete a pre-employment, and yearly physical medical examination to determine fitness for performance of the duties of this position (Physical, emotional and mental stability).
• Incumbent must meet established hearing and vision tests. Must be able to distinguish colors.
• This position requires incumbent to work rotating shifts. The incumbent is required to work alternate work schedule and mandatory overtime which requires an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Incumbent is required to work regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
• Travel overnight away from home station for Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is required, 10% of the time.
• Incumbent is required to possess or obtain and maintain certification: Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) training and Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS).
• Must possess or obtain and maintain certification: Cardo Pulmonary Resuscitation, DoD Telecommunicator I/II, Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD).
• This position requires the incumbent to possess or be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
• Incumbent must successfully pass a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Interstate Identification Index (III) background check.
• Required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment of Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under Drug Abuse Testing Program) or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), must pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment and randomly thereafter.
• Incumbent must wear a prescribed uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
