About the Position: This position supports the mission of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), J8, Financial Operations Division.
Duties
Serve as an authoritative source in the development and implementation of programs, projects and technical support/consultation that focus on improving business practices.
Access and operate the EHR and all associated input mechanisms and programs, which include Healthcare Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), and MHS GENESIS.
Perform process improvement functions in support of productivity analysis, provider currency, resource allocation, patient care, examination of clinical outcomes, and managed care support contracts.
Develop studies, summaries, and analyses from various source data collection systems, which the MTF needs to validate inpatient and outpatient workload at the patient encounter level.
Assist with development and execution of EHR training material, guidance, workflows and policy. Assists with bridging any gaps in EHR data quality capabilities.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- A one- year trial/probationary period may be required.

Basic Requirements Health System Specialist, GS-0671-11:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, assisting with recommending changes to Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; educating a variety of stakeholders on Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications; and assisting in the development of Electronic Health Record (EHR) training materials and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Healthcare Administration. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
