The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) are the centerpiece of the Attorney General's strategy to combat transnational-organized-crime and to reduce the availability of illicit narcotics in the nation by using a prosecutor-led, multi-agency approach to enforcement.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a 0080 Security Officer, GS-0080-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Conduct thorough security assessments and implement effective measures to safeguard personnel, assets, and sensitive information. Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive security program for the organization. The Security Officer plans and executes highly specialized and exceptionally technical security programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and national significance. Advises OCDETF Director in formulating and implementing short-term and long range Continuity of Operations Plan. Serves as a technical authority in assignments requiring the application of new theories and developments to physical security problems. Advises top-level agency security and subject matter managers on new developments and advances in security techniques in physical security. Manage all aspects of OCDETF's SCIF(s) (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) Program. Provides advice and guidance to OCDETF Director and senior management on all aspects of personnel security. Reviews and develops new or proposed agency security policies, procedures, and guidelines for implementation. Develops recommendations on the modifications and corrections needed to bring proposed or existing agency security directives into compliance.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
  • You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Security Officer, (GS-0080-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade. If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Specialized Experience for GS-14: I have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent: 1) Responsible for various projects or evaluations requiring processes or procedures to develop and implement changes of security techniques or methods of policy or operational requirements. Responsible for the development, management and implementation of policies and procedures for information security, physical security, and personnel security of an operation.
