You will serve as a Materials Handler Leader in the Material Management Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Duties

You will act as the Lead Material Handler with responsibilities in receiving, handling, and storing Hazardous Materials and working with the HAZMIN center of FLCN. You will be responsible for working with, training, and providing technical instructions to lower graded personnel, including relaying assignments and instructions from the supervisor to the workers. You will receive, handle, store, and issue HAZMAT in accordance with prescribed procedures established by the Consolidated Hazardous Reporting and Information Management Program (CHRIMP). You will operate a pick-up having a gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds. You will operate various types of Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) to include forklifts, pallet jackets, and automated high rise stacker lifts in automated and non-automated HAZMAT warehouses.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator License.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CDL with HAZMAT license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
