You will serve as a Materials Handler in the LF-50 HAZMIN Center, Hazardous Property Management Division, Material Operations Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.
Duties
You will prepare and verify documents for validity, quantity and condition of the HAZMAT processed through the HAZMIN center.
You will be responsible for the care and routine servicing of the MHE assigned to the HAZMIN Center.
You will adhere to the prescribed procedures established by the Consolidated Hazardous Reporting and Information Management Program (CHRIMP).
You will input data into database systems such as, the Hazardous Information Control System and ERP database.
You will receive, handle, store, and issue Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) in accordance with prescribed procedures.
You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You must obtain and maintain a forklift operator license.
- You must successfully complete the HAZCOM course, the Rack Loader Operator course, and the Hazardous Waste Site Operator course.
- You must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You must be able to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
- You will be responsible for lifting weight of 40 pounds or more.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must be willing and able to accept a "Key" position. This entails continued performance of duties and responsibilities during periods of national emergencies and/or mobilization.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks including receiving, handling, storing, and issuing hazardous materials in accordance with prescribed procedures; preparing, issuing, receiving, and completing inventory for documents and inputting data into Hazardous Information System and ERP database; operating various Materials-Handling Equipment (MHE) including forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated high-rise stacker lifts; and following warehouse guidelines.
