This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Budget Analyst in the FORSCOM, Headquarters 120th Infantry Brigade. Temporary Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE one year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years.
Duties
Review and interpret directives from higher headquarters and develop supplemental guidance for the submission of budget estimates.
Evaluate data submitted to determine the adequacy of funding estimates to support requirements.
Prepare and recommend changes in budgetary allotments as a result of revised guidance and/or organizational changes.
Serve as Defense Travel Administrator (DTA) for reporting Defense Travel System (DTS) problems and correcting administrative problems.
Review requests for allotments of funds to ensure they conform to budget guidance and regulations.
Review all vouchers for accuracy before routing to finance for payment.
Provide technical and/or administrative guidance to staff assigned to assist in carrying out budgetary functions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Incumbent must complete and maintain Financial Management Certification: Certification Level 2.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of approximately 25% of the time.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: obtaining and compiling budget or financial data and entering or extracting budget or financial data from automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
