This position is located in the Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of Facilities and Administrative Services (OFAS), Support Services Division (SSD), Administrative Services Branch. The incumbent performs a variety of assignments and projects in support of the mission of OFAS.
Duties
Provides support to the Administrative Officer overseeing the daily operation of the mail program. Develops reports and provides statistical reports and workload data upon request.
Assist with Organizing office procedures and operations; collaborate with IT to coordinate all office equipment. Provide general assistance to guests and assist with new employee onboarding. Respond to employee questions about office administration issues (such as stationery, hardware, and so on). Collaborate with facility management vendors such as cleaning, food vendors, and security as required with management assistance.
Supports the branch in compiling and consolidating data to meet annual reporting requirements of the Department, GSA and Congress; assists in preparing reports and spreadsheets for various program needs.
This position provides Executive Driving services. This includes transporting political and nonpolitical appointed Senior Officials in the Secretary's Immediate Office and OS. The position may also drive for Passport/Visa runs to the State Department and Embassies in the Washington, D.C./metropolitan area.
Qualifications
At the GS-07, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
One full year of graduate level education in an accredited or pre-accredited college. The education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work; OR
Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR (3) Honor Society Membership: Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/); OR
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to experience in coordinating activities and projects that require coordination with supervisors, providing program management support services in the areas of administrative duties and mail management, or the equivalent, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting reports on postal information and management data, and assisting with the formulation of statements of work (SOW); OR
A combination of education and experience as listed above.
At the GS-09 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to conducting research and analysis of financial data, as well as the collection of statistical information to identify discrepancies and resolve inaccurate data; utilizing standard cost accounting or financial systems to enter and extract information to assist with the development of budgets and the planning of operations; OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR
A combination of education and experience as list above.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
