About the Position: This position is with the 81st Readiness Division, Facility Maintenance Team, Directorate of Public Works located at .Fort Jackson, SC.

Duties

Provide technical advice on all facility matters within assigned area. Track and maintain facility assets, inventory and project information in various automated systems. Develop and disseminate guidance to subordinate staff. Prepare contract and cost estimate documents for maintenance and repair to facilities. Review construction contracts, specifications and submittals to ensure the technical adequacy of repair and construction projects. Monitor funding for maintenance and repair programs and service contracts. Provide cost estimates and economic analysis for requested work. Analyze workload for the operations, maintenance and repair of facilities.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement To qualify for this position, you must meet a basic requirement in addition to the qualification requirement. The basic requirement for this position is: Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Experience: Managing a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations, including planning maintenance activities, and developing preventive maintenance programs. Conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and supervising operations for conformance with project plans. Performing maintenance or construction work, including estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects (such as construction or maintenance of brick, frame, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and other type structures ranging from one- or two-story buildings to larger structures), directing actual work operations, and maintaining appropriate contacts with the organization funding the project. Minimum Qualifications In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and directing a program for operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities; determining operating and maintenance requirements; and preparing contracts and cost estimates for requested work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-11. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities ManagementFacilities Operations and MaintenanceFacilities Requirements Analysis and Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
