Duties

You will conduct analysis of complex environmental programs concerning effectiveness of current work operations/practices for control of environmental programs. You will analyze organization mission to identify and prioritize actions and resources to reduce environmental impacts. You will perform environmental sampling, coordinates sample analyses, and interprets results. You will use data gathering and analytical techniques to collect and review technical information on environmental activities and develop recommendations for a course of action. You will oversee or conduct the process for application and maintenance of required permits and ensures their currency in accordance with applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying, developing, and implementing environmental compliance activities; 2) Providing technical advice to assist in resolving critical issues regarding compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and hazardous waste management; and 3) Providing expert advice in Hazardous Waste Management and Oil and Hazardous Substance Emergency Spill Response. FOR GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance in administering environmental protection programs and the laws and regulations related to environmental protection activities; 2) Determining relevant environmental regulatory standards and applicability; and 3) Evaluating waste and identifying proper storage and disposal requirements; 3) Ensuring that data are collected and reported promptly and accurately. Education

GS 11: Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience above may qualify with education or a combination of experience and education as follows:

You successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

You successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR

You successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

OR

You successfully completed a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

GS-09: Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience above may qualify with education or a combination of experience and education as follows:

You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

OR

You have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.

OR
