You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. GS-07 pay $54,896 - $71,366 GS-09 pay $67,147 - $87,291 This position has promotion potential to GS-11.

Duties

You will conduct inspections, inventories, record keeping, and environmental deficiency identification and tracking in support of environmental laws and regulations. You will review environmental issues with investigations, inspection reports, inquiries, or complaints to determine corrective action. You will compose reports, official correspondence, memorandums, or information papers for environmental projects or programs. You will ensure that hazardous materials and waste are received, handled, stored, inspected, documented, and manifested/disposed of in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and safety requirements.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

• This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Identify environmental compliance issues related to management of drinking water quality, wastewater treatment, storm water management and treatment, air quality, above and underground storage tanks, spill prevention, hazardous waste, solid waste and/or natural and cultural resources; 2) Implement standard environmental compliance technologies to resolve simple compliance problems; 3) Conduct inspections of daily operations, assess impacts to public safety and the environment, and effectively communicate findings to leadership and operators; and 4)Perform efficient data management.
