You will serve as an EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (RADIOLOGICAL) in the Radiological Control Office of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Salary Information: GS 11: $75, 640 - $98, 330 GS 09: $62, 517 - $81, 272

Duties

You will develop radiological emergency response plans to an actual or potential nuclear reactor plant accident or other radiological emergency or all-hazard emergencies that may impact the safety of Nuclear-Powered Warships. You will plan and conduct radiological emergency drills and media exercises to evaluate level of preparedness and conducts training sessions to train radiological emergency personnel. You will conduct qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the radiological emergency planning program. You will coordinate reactor plant operations, radiological controls, radiological emergency planning and a conduct reactor plant repair and maintenance in order to provide advice and critical direction in the event of a real emergency. You will develop concepts, principles, techniques of radiological controls to be responsible for projects relating to radiological emergency planning.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing emergency management planning related to nuclear or radiological accidents to ensure compliance with emergency management processes or standard operating procedures in order to support emergency planning services. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in performing emergency management planning related to nuclear or radiological accidents to ensure compliance with emergency management processes or standard operating procedures in order to support emergency planning services. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR
  • 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR
  • LL.M., if directly related to the position being filled
GS-09:
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR
  • LL.B. or J.D., if directly related to the position being filled
