This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Audit, Assessment, and Management (OAAM), Program Assessment Division (PAD).
Duties
Prepares for grant program assessments. Conducts complicated research into programs, grantee organizations and topical areas. Finds and compiles grant data, governing statutes and appropriations language. Studies regulatory guidance and any prior assessments even when scarce or esoteric.
Conducts in- depth and often complicated assessments of agency systems and policies, procedures, and guidelines related to the competition, administration, management and monitoring of grants and grant programs.
Reports findings from assessments in publications that present assessment approach, methodology and results. Applies quality control measures to own work and the work of others. Controls for style, accuracy, citations and clarity.
Follows up on the implementation of recommendations with grant program offices on recommendations until all issues are resolved and the assessment can be closed out.
Leads complex projects and program assessments by providing expert advice and guidance on broad projects and grant programs with national impact. Coordinates the preparation, presentation and communication of project-related information to the Division Deputy Director. Ensures all team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of program assessment objectives.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Developing grant program assessment goals and objectives, to include drafting the framework, task plan, and charter plan.
Establishing and conducting internal control activities (for example, authorizations, verifications, reconciliations), monitoring their use, and evaluating their performance.
Analyzing grant program data utilizing a variety of analyses, such as comparative, case study, compliance, cost/benefit, gap, outcome, trend and/or statistical analyses.
Conducting complicated assessments of grant programs, legislative committee and conference reports, strategic plans and annual program plans, funding levels, and audits.
Developing outlines and storyboards that organize assessment information and results and presents them, to include both descriptive statistics and more complex analytical findings.
