About the Position: This is a permanent position located at the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Station in Cleveland, Ohio. Incumbent provides administrative support to the station's Commander and staff. Performs a variety of administrative support functions associated with information flow, military and civilian personnel, mail, and timekeeping.
Duties
Create a variety of reports for submission to higher headquarters using a variety of office software packages.
Maintain office files, including personnel files on military and civilian employees, in accordance with regulatory guidance
Prepare Request for Personnel Actions for submission using automated systems.
Collaborate with designated civilian personnel officials to determine status of personnel actions.
Conduct in-processing for newly assigned personnel to ensure completion of required forms.
Screen telephone calls and visitors to refer/direct customers to appropriate staff/offices.
Distribute mail to appropriate staff members and post office.
Review documents prepared for Commander's signature ensuring compliance with regulations.
Maintain calendars for staff within assigned Command.
Serve as timekeeper to provide advice to supervisors on time and leave procedures.
Uses office procedures to maintain a suspense log for all actions.
Provide staff with guidance on how to properly operate within office procedures.
Requirements

- Must obtain and maintain a DD 285, Mail Handlers Card.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical support (i.e., screening telephone calls/visitors, maintaining office calendars, maintaining records or files, etc.); utilizing office automation software to prepare various types of documents (i.e., spreadsheets, reports, graphs, charts, statistical data, etc.); reviewing documents for accuracy; and utilizing established procedures to provide assistance to stakeholders . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration and Human Resources.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
