About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, Maintenance Division Ground Maintenance Branch on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Duties

Perform preparatory work for higher graded mechanics in the repair and overhaul of heavy mobile equipment. Separate common hazardous materials into specified categories. Inventory and requisition bench stock parts under supervision of higher level mechanic. Obtain tools and replacement parts for the repair and overhaul of heavy mobile equipment. Operate a computer in order to inventory, order, receive, and issue parts and equipment. Operate a forklift of up to 10,000 lbs to store, retrieve components, and assemblies in storage area.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) security clearance.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a forklift license or certification within 6 months after hire.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Hazardous Material certification within 6 months after hire.
• This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
• This position may require the incumbent to travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.

I perform preparatory work for higher graded mechanics in the repair and overhaul of heavy mobile equipment by retrieving tools, retrieving replacement parts, utilize tools by tightening nuts and bolts, cleaning and lubricating parts, and holding components and assemblies in place for higher graded mechanics as needed. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
