About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off of Interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 5000 employees.

Duties

Execute assigned safety and occupational health program(s) to meet regulatory and mission requirements; explosives, industrial, program management; safety accident investigation and reporting, analysis, prevention and control. Investigate and analyze accidents occurring in munitions and industrial areas to determine cause and contributing factors; prepares written accident reports concerning findings. Conducts special investigations of serious accidents. Provide accident prevention training and disseminates safety promotional materials. Review and evaluate engineering design drawings and specifications for new equipment and facilities from a structural and layout perspective to ensure all appropriate safety and health requirements are considered Assist with planning, scheduling, conducting safety surveys /inspections of work areas to assure compliance with safety regulations, policy, and guidance

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The incumbent must meet all requirements for data analytics level 1 certification within 12 months of being placed on the position.
• Incumbent within 12 months of hire, must complete the Professional Certificate for Safety and Occupational Health (PCSOH) (Level 1 Skills).
• Incumbent must complete PCSOH Explosive Safety Courses and obtain PCSOH Explosive Safety Certificate (Level 1) within 1 year of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Managing safety or occupational health program elements, (2) Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards, (3) Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects, (4) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards, (5) Analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS- 11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
