This position is located in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Departmental Offices, Assistant Secretary for Management/CFO, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) within the Enterprise Applications (EA) division, EA Cybersecurity (EAC) team.
The employee provides leadership and expert technical advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the organization.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), you will:
Prioritize and schedule areas to be evaluated and develop assessment criteria.
Analyze findings and develop long-range plans for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and insure systems reliability.
Assess potential impact on existing program requirements. Evaluate the feasibility of implementing new developments to enhance systems security and reliability.
Develop, recommend, and implement approved security contingency plans, incident response plans, and disaster recovery procedures.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors.
Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
- Experience engineering security infrastructure systems to include vulnerability management, system scanning, continuous authorization monitoring, and log retention systems; AND
- Experience engineering Windows Server, Linux, Virtualization, and cloud environments to achieve specific solutions securely; AND
- Experience creating and presenting information to peers, managers, and executives and working collaboratively across large enterprises or industry sectors; AND
- Experience providing cyber security support to include risk benefit analysis for enterprise technology solutions; AND
- Experience consulting with other IT Specialists to advise on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability within the enterprise
Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors.
Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
- Experience operating and interpreting results from security infrastructure systems to include vulnerability management, system scanning, continuous authorization monitoring, and log retention systems; AND
- Experience in maintaining Windows Server, Linux, and cloud environments securely; AND
- Experience with reading common scripting languages to interpret intent and result; AND
- Experience presenting information to peers, managers, and executives and working collaboratively across large enterprises or industry sectors; AND
- Experience providing cyber security support, such as risk benefit analysis of information technology security; AND
- Experience consulting with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed
below.
