This position is located in the Patient Registration Section of the Business Office (BO) in the Cass Lake Indian Health Service Service Unit located within Cass Lake, Minnesota in the Bemidji Area. The incumbent provides registration and eligibility services which are the key point of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for Alternate Resources, Contract Health Services and private/commercial insurance.

Duties

Interviews patients to obtain pertinent information. Assist patients in completing new or updated forms for patient registration. Obtain, update and verify alternate resource information by utilizing automated systems available. Provide patient registration and eligibility services by interacting with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, contract health service, and private or commercial insurance. Determine the eligibility of alternate resources or patients seeking health care who have not previously been treated at the facility, by obtaining proof of tribal membership.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: One (1) year of general experience and/or two (2) years above high school. GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level or four (4) years above high school. Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be field. Examples of Specialized Experience at the GS-05 Grade Level: Interview patients to gather information; Enter patient data into an automated patient registration system; Assist patients in completing forms; Review documents for accuracy; Explain processes and policies to patients. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
