These positions are located in National Capital Parks-East, NACE, a complex portfolio of parks and sites in DC and Maryland, consisting of over 8,000 acres. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative assistance on the practical and technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting, acquisition and property management, human resources, and other administrative support services, and to perform staff support work in each of these areas.
Duties
The major duties of the Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Advisory Services: Provides accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the park, give briefings on administrative topics; schedules events/meetings as necessary.
Budget and Financial Management: Serves as technical resource on travel policies and regulations, provides information on travel allowances and requirements.
Acquisition and Property Management: Produce Purchase Requests and Receiving Reports using the FBMS software program. Purchase, write justifications, reconcile purchases using third party drafts and Government Purchase Cards within federal procurement regulations.
Human Resources Management: Provides human resources information and assistance to the unit. Serves as the primary timekeeper for the unit.
Office Services and Information Management: Use computer running Windows operating systems in a local area network environment. Employee can: use, support and teach work processing, spreadsheets and database management (Microsoft Office), use electronic mail programs, work with scanners, back-up drives, fax machines, copiers, and other computer peripherals and troubleshoot.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-05/07/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Preparing travel documents for other employees, addressing routine phone call or forwarding calls to the appropriate office, preparing letters, memos or other correspondence, updating and maintaining office records, preparing payroll documents and addressing question about leave, timecards or other related payroll topics, or similar admirative work in support of an office. You must include hours per week worked. -OR-
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4-years above high school. You must include transcripts. -OR-
A combination of specialized experience & education as described above. You must include transcripts.
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is described as: performing a wide variety of advanced administrative functions such as coordinating payroll, preparing and entering personnel actions, coordinating travel arrangements, managing a procurement system, and preparing, tracking, and reconciling an organization's budget. You must include hours per week worked.
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is described as: performing a wide variety of advanced administrative functions such as advising employees on payroll regulations and serving as payroll coordinator; serving as liaison with Human Resources by preparing and entering personnel actions, processing employee paperwork, and coordinating background investigations; serving as the technical advisor for travel processes and regulations; advising on procurement; and performing budget and financial management by collecting data for a budget, making recommendations, tracking expenditures, creating budgetary reports, and reconciling an organization's budget. You must include hours per week worked.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive the credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies." Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
