About the Position: Serves as the principal office assistant performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the organization. United States Eglin Air Force Base is located in the western Florida Panhandle.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents and reviews and finalizes correspondence/documents prepared by others in handwritten or electronic drafts.
Consolidates and finalizes information for various reports in accordance with established procedures.
Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
Screens incoming mail to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other organizations/offices, or handled personally.
Establishes and monitors suspense dates for assigned taskers.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Maintains supervisor's calendars, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences.
Performs other administrative and clerical work in support of the office/organization.
Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats, such as graphics or tables, reformatting electronic drafts, and updating existing databases.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing most of the following which includes: performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics to track and prepare reports; prepares a variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence; maintains supervisor's calendar, to coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments; and proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
