About the Position: This Secretary (Office Automation) position is with the Florida Panhandle Market, 96th MDG, located at Eglin AFB, Florida.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB-MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Perform various administrative and clerical duties in support of the Commander and Deputy Commander.
Provide assistance, advice and guidance to the other secretaries when needed.
Prepare a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents for the office or organization.
Prepare and finalize various recurring reports, to include determining and modifying format, content and frequency requirements for the office or organization.
Proof-reads/edits correspondence for typographical and grammatical accuracy in accordance with format requirements.
Utilize automated tracking system or software to track correspondence and establish/monitor suspense dates for actions within the office or organization.
Receive telephone call and greets visitors to ascertain the nature of the call or visit.
Maintain supervisor’s calendar to include coordinating and schedules meetings and/or conferences for supervisor.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative and/or clerical work in support of the office/organization; utilizing automated software such as Microsoft Office to prepare a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents as requested; reviewing and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives for the department; maintaining calendar, to include coordinating meeting arrangements and scheduling meetings and/or conferences for assigned supervisor; proofreading/editing correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and/or format prior to sending to recipient.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
