Duties
You will be responsible for overseeing the installation, inspection, and testing of mechanical features and systems installed.
You will provide support in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, chilled water, steam, hot water, compressed air, and industrial control systems.
You will resolve complex engineering and construction problems encountered during construction.
You will develop studies, plans and specifications for both new construction and the rehabilitation and upgrade of existing mechanical systems.
You will review proposals for sound mechanical engineering practices and conformance with established criteria and recommend approval or disapproval.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing, studying, and calculating solutions for problems connected with a HVAC systems; 2) Preparing requisite scopes, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates related to planning, design of facility mechanical systems; 3) Collecting data from field investigations for reports by determining the condition of existing facility systems to propose improvement or restoring services within command facilities; 4) Consulting in the implementation of construction projects and construction qualify control involving complex mechanical facilities; 5) Providing highly technical mechanical support during various stages of the design/construction process; 6) Evaluating operation manuals, equipment warranties, and material certifications submitted by the contractor for contract and performance requirements in order to recommend approval or rejection.
