As KGCS Lead Design Engineer, supervise design and network efforts, managing subsystem activities from research and development to fabrication, installation, and verification/validation testing for system certification. Coordinate testing, ensuring seamless communication and integration support across diverse projects and organizations interfacing with KGCS.

Duties

As the primary Design Engineer provide guidance for all design, development, fabrication, installation, verification, and certification activities concerning both hardware and software elements for the Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS). Offer authoritative technical guidance in decision-making, consultation, and problem-solving for Kennedy Ground Control Subsystem. Navigate uncertainties to optimize planning, integration, coordination, and critical management processes. Resolve critical issues in Kennedy Ground Control Subsystem (KGCS) network design, installation, fabrication, testing, validation, operation, and maintenance. Collaborate with KSC and external entities to ensure seamless KGCS interfaces. Lead KGCS network operational support, develop test procedures, analyze, and report results, define system requirements, document specifications, and oversee verification and validation of KGCS system designs. Present and articulate Kennedy Ground Control Subsystem (KGCS) design engineering position to ground configuration control board (GCCB), software configuration control board (SCCB) and technical forums. Analyze KGCS designs for enhancements, initiating redesigns for improved effectiveness and reparability. Implement cutting-edge technology to advance the subsystem. Support field operations, understanding Launch Commit Criteria interactions with KGCS subsystems for effective console operations. Documenting testing and troubleshooting in Solumina and Maximo ensuring adherence to KSC standards for design requirement traceability of electrical ground support equipment. Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. Supporting the modifications, testing, sustaining or operation of the Kennedy Ground Control Subsystem (KGCS) and advising of the workflow processes and documentation to optimize electrical ground support equipment system efficiency and reliability; Presenting system performance/requirement issues, testing updates, support status, project progress, and team resource assessments to senior management; Developing testing algorithms and formulating solutions for subsystems to ensure they interface effectively with other systems or subsystems. Education


Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
