Duties

You will coordinate project work with internal and external organizations to identify and resolve integration issues. You will create written documents (e.g., specifications, test required documents, drawings) to outline recommendations on technical engineering projects. You will design preliminary studies, sketches, and drawings from specific instructions or notes. You will advise (e.g., problem investigation, analysis, and resolution) to assist with projects pertaining to design, installation, maintenance or repair. You will collaborate with customers and contractors to prepare job plans or contract work statements to ensure that the scope of work is mutually understood. You will assess repair and maintenance requirements of plumbing and mechanical systems to prepare necessary detailed specifications (e.g., sketches, drawings).

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying engineering concepts, principles and practices for a full range of engineering duties (civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental) to support design, layout, and supervision of construction operations. Monitoring construction projects to a safe, successful and timely completion. Mentoring lower grade technicians by providing day to day guidance and assisting in adapting guidelines and techniques. Preparing / reviewing technical engineering specifications and statements of work covering complex and diverse engineering designs or changes for constructability and accuracy. Using IT tools and their functionality, including computer systems and related accessories, to support Construction Quality Management (CQM), engineering practices and construction methods. Formulating and presenting findings, briefings, project papers, status reports and correspondence to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
