About the Position: Supervisory sterile processing technician at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital can expect to work regular 8-hour dayshift schedule with occasional dayshift weekend duty and occasional partial evening shifts. The candidate can expect continuous leadership training through DHA offered courses and achieve a high level of autonomy and job satisfaction.

Duties
Monitor and track surgical instruments using automated instrument tracking systems.
Monitor inventory records using a variety of software.
Disassemble, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments.
Inspect instruments and equipment to ensure operational efficiency and surgical precision.
Serve as the supervisor of the Central Materiel Section, which supports the decontamination, sterilization, instrument and cart preparation, equipment maintenance and supply, and storage and issue of medical supplies.
Perform employee evaluations using DPMAPS.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to perform temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 5% for the purpose of training.
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- This position requires the ability to lift approximately 50 pounds without assistance.
- This position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement therefore the incumbent is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing medical items and equipment to be utilized for medical care; inspecting and sterilizing surgical instruments; processing, ordering, and storing medical supplies.; AND utilizing automated tracking/personal computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Medical Laboratory Technician, Microbiology, Chemistry and Biology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
