This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Central Florida. This position is located in the Nursing Service. The incumbent provides administrative and data support services to the Nursing Service.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Schedule appointments with the Chief Nurse, take minutes of staff meetings, maintain adequate inventory of office supplies. Experience with computer spreadsheets, data applications, etc. to produce and maintain various documents, charts and graphs for Nursing to complete reports. Plan effectively and organize work to facilitate meeting necessary deadlines. Handle and prioritize work issues/problems and or sensitive situations. Excellent oral and written communications. Receives requests from other sources and determines the best method of obtaining, computing and reporting data. Assist Nursing staff with analyzing workload trends, patient outcomes and compares and contrasts current and historical information. Provide recommendation elements for improving trends. Reviews, verifies, and performs basic analysis of data, including Accustaffing, VSSC for consistency with financial and program objectives, and ensures adherence to VA directives. Develop data collection tools and educates staff on their utilization. The PSA maintains files that are up to date and organized in an efficient manner. Act as a backup coverage for timekeeping as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/26/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. This is an Office Automation (OA) position. You must self-certify that you an type at least 40 words per minute. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Experience filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. 2) Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. 3) Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information; determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods. 4) Makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 5) Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals. Preferred Experience: Candidate will have 2-3 years of administrative experience. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, CPRS, GOVTA, AcuStaf and ADPAC duties along with understanding of organizational SOPs & policies, maintains employee records. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. There may be some walking, standing, stooping, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts, etc. Concentration and sustained performance under prolonged stress is required because of the time factors involved in completion of work assignments within deadlines. Incumbent may be susceptible to eyestrain from working long hours on the computer. Incumbent must remain emotionally stable under stressful situations.
