The primary purpose of this position is to support all outdoor leadership and team building activities as developed by the curriculum department of Squadron Officer School (SOS).
Duties
Plans and administers professional leadership support program for SOS, OTS, and IOS.
Set-up outdoor exercises routes for SOS.
Maintain approximately 80 acres of athletic fields.
Maintain outdoor curriculum activities and equipment for the Schools.
Uses office automation software. Responsible for the overall operations and maintenance of the SOS facilities.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, nd Technical and Medical Support Positions. Recreation Aid and Assistant Series 0189.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge gained through relevant experiences which enables the employee to competently and independently carry out basic recurring an well-established sports program. Knowledge and ability to deal with problems and customers, handle complaints, and follow safety rules and regulations. Knowledge of standardized rules and procedures in recreation activities and programs. Knowledge of clerical procedures, proper forms, supplies and equipment required and proper use and replacement procedures within the organization. Knowledge of basic lawn/turf care and grounds maintenance equipment.
OR
EDUCATION: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Understand and apply basic lawn/turf care principles.
2. Knowledge of Lawn Equipment, Tractors, Turf Blowers, Turf Vac, Turf Painting equipment.
3. Knowledge of commonly used supply procedures, forms, and nomenclature to perform routine supply tasks.
4. Ability to take diagrams, maps, and verbal instruction to set up various Field and Team Building Courses.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
