Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland Air Force Base (New Mexico) is searching for an Acquisition Security Specialist for SSC/ZAS (GS-0080-13).
Description:
Do you want a challenge in the realm of classified Security? Have you always wanted to be the tip of the spear in controlling the classified requirements of a military organization? This is the job for you. Come join the United States Space Force and join a security team responsible for the unit and personnel within it protecting tip of the spear technologies and space-based programs. This job will give you education in multiple security disciplines and responsibilities that will make you eligible for a career in the highly touted security specialist positions throughout the Department of Defense. As an Acquisition Security Specialist, you will engage with multiple Program Managers and specialized missions that will broaden security knowledge in Space Force missions.
Ideal Candidate:
- This position will require mastery of duties as a manager and supervisor while fulfilling the position of Deputy Security Director for all SZI security support personnel, unit government and contractor personnel, and corresponding facilities.
- Subject matter expertise in Acquisition Security Principles and Policies moving Space Force Program Management and leadership to apply new processes and procedures to better organize the current and future operational concepts.
- Technical expert in multiple security classification levels with the ability to adjust current policies as needed to meet new and future security screening requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge with Program Protection Plans (PPP), Security Classification Guidance (SCG), and security requirements for missions integrating new and approved security policies and procedures into acquisition planning and execution throughout Space Force Command and directorates.
- Leader and subject matter expert guiding current and ever-changing Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and Special Access Program Facility (SAPF) physical security requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Technical expert in SAP and SCI processes and procedures with knowledge to prepare metrics and studies in support of these accesses.
- Evaluate management principles/practices and provide Space Systems Command Executive Security leadership with prosed changes and recommendations to current and future policies involving both government and contractor personnel in their purview.
- Guides/leads managers with understanding and adhering to the policies, instructions, procedures, control systems and methods for such activities and functions as safeguarding and use; personnel access controls; need to know criteria; physical storage and control; and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, emergency protection and removal, destroying of classified information.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a broad range of security principles, concepts, practices, methodologies, program relationships, and expertise in industrial, physical, information, and personnel security to effectively implement and administer classified security programs.
2. Ability to resolve problems or conflicts between security requirements and organizational missions, adjusting or waiving as requirements to accommodate multiple or conflicting requirements.
3. Skill in guiding acquisition strategies that balance programmatic goals with national security objectives.
4. Ability to coordinate security matters and resolve issues with scientific, technical, and other subject matter specialists.
5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships and work as a team member.
6. Skill in written and oral communications.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
- PCS/Relocation funding is available.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force
Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
- May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
