You will serve as a Supervisory Deputy Division Head position in the Point Mugu Sea Range Support Division of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will work directly with Division and Department staff to develop strategic plans for future capabilities and life cycle support of existing systems. You will be assigned duties as a first level supervisor for Division personnel, to include branch heads as well as various Division Staff, as assigned. You will provide support, insight, and advice to the Support Division Head on division matters. You will participate in department and division working groups to foster process improvement, efficiency gains, improve management structures and solve critical problems.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/12) or pay band (NM-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Leading a team/organization on strategic planning related to aircraft and/or weapons systems; 2) Carrying out a full range of combined technical and administrative direction of others; 3) Planning aircraft and/or weapons systems work to be accomplished by others, including adjusting short-term priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work; 4) Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
