The primary purpose of this position, ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER WL-2610-12, is to lead three or more journeyman electronic mechanics in performing depot level maintenance on assigned work load and to fault isolate and repair avionics components (LRU) and subcomponents (SRU) on a wide variety of airborne electronic systems.

Duties

1. Lead a team of trades and/or labor workers. 2. Perform nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led. 3. Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, align, and calibrate complete multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft altitude control, navigation, and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which as extensively interconnected with data feedback loops and accomplish a number of major functions. 4. Read and study technical orders and approve technical data as manufacturer's manuals, specifications, prints, and schematics. 5. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.

  • May be required to work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty. Subject to call back to meet emergency situations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family.Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Theory of Electronics Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools -Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 25 pounds, and occasional objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors. Climbing and working in high places may also be required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee typically works in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Work is sometimes performed in aircraft, and sometimes outside in inclement weather. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder, and cuts and bruises.
