Duties

You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the COMSEC (N642), FLEET COMMUNICATIONS (N64), CMD, CONTROL, COMM AND COMP SYS DEPT (N6), MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. You will conduct Life Cycle Management for all cryptographic equipment to meet compliance and operational requirements. You will establish and communicate means of capturing crypto equipment requirements based on usage, turnover, failure rates, and logistics. You will interpret, track, staff and file COMSEC audits. You will compile data from various sources to develop summaries and reports.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current DCWF certification.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR EXPERIENCE: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Experience evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. Experience evaluating configuration changes to establish a baseline for Life Cycle Management (LCM) on a wide array of cryptographic equipment supporting secure communications. Experience record keeping communication security (COMSEC) correspondence using a computer operating system. Experience performing operational capabilities based on cryptographic equipment manuals and communication security policies, using problem-solving rules, procedures, techniques, and methods. Experience in data collection and reporting to audit communication security (COMSEC) accounts. Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.
