Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Miami/Tampa Field Offices, Office of the Director of Field Operations (DFO) located in Miami, Florida.

Duties

Joining the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) will allow you to serve as principal assistant to the Assistant Director, Mission Support, responsible for leading the development and implementation of the key support processes for the organization This position starts at a salary of $130,148.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $169,195.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Duties: Developing overall operational plans, objectives, and strategies for these processes; Ensuring the integration of these areas with strategic plans to ensure they support the achievement of CBP core processes in the organization. Making decisions on problems presented by the staff, communicating performance requirements, evaluating work performance, and recommending recognition of employees. Taking disciplinary action when necessary; Identifying developmental and career advancement needs, and assuring they are satisfied. Partnering with the Assistant Director, Mission Support (ADMS) in developing, evaluating, and improving financial policy, plans, and processes. Serving as the liaison with the Office of Human Resources Management (HRM), including Labor and Employee Relations (LER), and Public Affairs programs to coordinate the consultation, implementation, and development of workforce management issue.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing supervisory guidance on administrative programs, procedures, and processes affecting the Field Office. Developing and implementing short and long-term goals, operational plans, and objectives to improve mission support services. Overseeing and evaluating complex administrative services to the field, employees, and other customers pertaining to budget, logistics, procurement, and quality assurance programs. Making decisions and resolving problems involving interpretation of the law or unusual situations requiring interpretation and application of DHS policy. Communicating with internal components to obtain, relay, summarize, and translate guidance and information. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 04/19/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
