About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Create and edit Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) programs for a variety of modern machining equipment. Create initial programs using CAD/CAM systems which may need manual editing or revising at the machining center as the program is verified. Operate a variety of modern multi-axis CNC machining equipment with or without live tooling. Operate additive manufacturing 3D printers, laser cutters or engravers, or conventional/manual machines. Manage the full inventory of established CNC programs on a server using a Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) system and keeps programs updated to reflect changes in technical data or customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Incumbent's CNC Programmer competency level is expected to be reached within 6 months of entering position.

The work involves continuous standing and reaching with intermittent walking, stooping, bending, sitting, and lifting. Overhead crane, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment as required.
