About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation.

Duties

Pass on instructions received from supervisor and starts work (e.g. by assigning immediate tasks to individual members of the group led). Ensure needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Check work progress and when finished and checks for compliance with supervisor’s instructions on work sequence procedures, methods, and deadlines. Ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g. ensures machine capacities are not exceeded and tools are properly used).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
  • A Pre-Employment Physical is required.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.

The work of the position normally includes: Ability to lead/work beside Machinist in a manufacturing environment, which includes, but not limited to the following: set up and operate specialized or non-standard machine tools (i.e. jig borers, precision boring mills or Numerical Control (NC) machines) to complete assigned work; resolve problems concerning machining procedures to keep operations running - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use Hand Tools for Machine ShopAbility To Use Shop DrawingsKnowledge of MetalsOperation of Machine Tools PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and moving, lifting, and handling items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Subject to hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside areas in well lighted, heated, and ventilated shop with concrete floors that are usually noisy and dirty, and exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noise, and fumes. There is a constant danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips and abrasive particles; skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating pieces, and moving parts of machines.
