VA Illiana Health Care System has an Associate Chief, Clinical Programs opening in the Clinical Pharmacy Services.The posisiion is responible for the daily professional and administrative operation of all clinical pharmacy programs; oversees & supports student educational programs (e.g. Pharmacy Resident Program). Illiana Pharmacy Service provides innovative and progressive clinical services in specialty and general patient care areas that foster and support the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Duties
Design, develop, implement and assess progressive and comprehensive clinical pharmacy services.
Management and coordination of all pharmacy student experiences from multiple schools of pharmacy to include Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in all practice areas.
Oversight of the ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Postgraduate Year-One (PGY-1) Residency Program to support the Residency Program Director (RPO).
Responsible for serving as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) and providing clinical services for institutional and ambulatory care services.
Serve as a mid-level practitioner with full prescribing privileges, as outlined in the individual's scope of practice.
Function at the highest level of clinical pharmacy practice to provide evidence-based pharmaceutical care services through direct care with patients and consultation with providers.
In the absence of the Chief of Pharmacy, and/or Associate Chief of Pharmacy, Operations, function as the Acting Chief of Pharmacy and uphold all associated incumbent duties and responsibilities.
Work Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Telework: 1-2 days per pay period.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. CITIZENSHIP: You must be a US Citizen and be proficient in spoken and written English.
EDUCATION: You must be a Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
OR
You must be a Graduate of a foreign pharmacy degree programs that meet the educational requirement and able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL IBT).
LICENSURE: You must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory or Common wealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-14 LEVEL: You must possess at least one (1) full year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or equivalent, which is directly related to the Associate Pharmacy Service Chief position, which includes, but is not limited to: Responsible for coordinating multiple programs in pharmacy service in a medical facility. Serves as the Acting Service Chief in the absence of the Service Chief. Develops and maintains a system of internal reviews that ensure service programs operate at a satisfactory level of performance and in compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies. Responsible for pharmacy utilization of resources and budget. Makes selections, assigns personnel, and serves as a mentor to help employees develop their full potential.

Preferred Experience: PGY-1 +/- PGY-2 experience; experience in leadership; experience as CPP in PACT/HBPC/CLC

The full performance level of this vacancy is 14.
Noteworthy: Residency and fellowship training programs in a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice may be substituted for creditable experience on a year-for year basis. The pharmacy residency program must be accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Physical Requirements: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which requires that employee follows safety practices and regulations. The employee works in close proximity to patients, and is therefore, exposed to communicable diseases. The employee works with patients/customers and may be exposed to individuals under the influence of alcohol/drugs, may be mentally impaired and verbal abuse may be experienced.
