This position will be assigned to the Air Force Service Center, Port San Antonio, TX.
This is a regular full-time category position with guaranteed 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.
Duties
Primary accounting position within NAF Benefits and Insurance (VIHB), Air Force Services Center (AFSVC) which develops, implements, and manages centralized Air Force programs to ensure NAF employees are afforded benefits and entitlements. Provides accounting backup to VIHB as needed. Responsible for maintaining communication with payroll offices to resolve problems. Receives bi-weekly payroll employee/employer files, downloads transactions, updates systems, deposits checks, reviews rejects, and requests reports. Verifies/reconciles NAF and APF (portability) payroll employee/employer contribution data. Contacts pay offices (NAF/APF), CPO, accounting and banking technician's to resolve discrepancies and make corrections when needed. Receives and inputs data reported by manual payroll locations, and APF portability participants, and verifies input data. Updates participants master records. Verifies employee contribution accounts, requests statements, and mails to HRO, payroll offices, or home address as requested by participants. Responds to participants inquires. Prepares Program Change request and works with other AFSVC sections and systems personnel.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience with accounting which requires application of established double-entry accounting procedures and techniques. Experience with data files and databases. Experience with assessing the quality and integrity of data.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Experience to resolve variances and problems on own initiative.
Knowledge of financial records related to administration of employee benefits plans and computer operations.
Experience with communication with internal and external contacts, both verbally and in writing.
Analytical experience, judgment, initiative, and diplomacy.
Process basic functions /calculations within Excel spreadsheets.
Function in a telework environment utilizing VPN, Zoom, Skype and Teams.
