This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC), in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Duties

Types correspondence and generates forms from rough drafts, notes, oral instructions, or original compositions.
Reviews correspondence, forms, etc., for procedural and grammatical accuracy.
Attends meetings and conferences (both technical and non-technical), records the information presented during the discussions, and takes comprehensive notes.
Uses comprehensive notes to finalize accurate minutes of the meetings and conferences for distribution to appropriate individuals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Physical Requirement: The work ls sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like paper or books. No specific physical demands are required to perform the work.
Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. ~And~
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS 05 Have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and conferences; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; and maintaining files. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level? This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) ~OR~
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Do you possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-5 level? Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
