This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Provider Communications Group (PCG).
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will coordinate: overall office management; projects that cut across component offices; proper disposition of correspondence; administrative and personnel activities, operating policies, and strategic human resources issues; program and administrative budgets.
Duties
Functions as the primary Group-level contact to coordinate, assemble, review, and submit timely various recurring reports and incoming requests for program-related information on ongoing program-related assignments and controls.
Conducts assignments on a wide range of management and program operating matters for the Group which includes developing and coordinating materials for the Group Director, Deputy Director, and other management officials.
Establishes and maintains contacts and working relationships required to plan and execute projects to meet the needs of the Director and Deputy Director.
Develops or coordinates PCG policies and procedures to accomplish relative project management activities.

In order to qualify for this GS-14 position, you must meet the following: you must clearly demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Coordinate projects that cut across component offices; and (2) Analyze and determine the proper disposition of incoming requests; and (3) Provide authoritative recommendations on key administrative issues affecting operations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
