About the Position: Serves as Army Community Service Division Chief at a small to medium size garrison with full professional and technical responsibility for the programs to include planning, marketing, and accountability for the quality of services provided and for overall program effectiveness.

Duties
Responsible for implementing full range of programs designed for identifying and resolving problems through awareness, prevention, education and direct services for financial, transition, relocation, and employment related issues.
Manage the Army Community Service programs in the following functional areas: Family Advocacy Program, Employment Assistance, Information and Referral, Financial Readiness, Survivor Outreach Services and Exceptional Family Member Program.
Develop the most effective and acceptable approaches and meets with other program and activity managers and others to gain their concurrence and support and to develop innovative joint programs and activities.
Direct plans and procedures to provide for a comprehensive Soldier and family support program widely recognized for addressing a broad range of interests and needs of the military community.
Develop employee performance objectives and standards, provides timely performance evaluations and directs action for improvement, takes timely and appropriate disciplinary and personnel actions.

Basic Requirement for the Army Community Services Officer GS-0101-12:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Performing client in-take and assessments of military personnel and family members. 2.) Developing self and community assessments to identify trends and organizational needs. 3.) Provide individual and family consultation. 4) Developing and implementing quality life service programs in accordance with regulations and laws. This is the definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
