About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Public Affairs Office at USAG Fort Eisenhower, GA.
Duties
Produce news articles and feature stories, with accompanying photos, that tell the Fort Eisenhower, Gillem Enclave and Cyber Center of Excellence story, by showcasing the organization’s programs, projects, and people.
Provide content of newsworthy events and activities to the Army.mil webpage, along with the Fort Eisenhower Facebook page, for publication.
Conduct research and interviews.
Write and edit news articles and feature stories.
Copy, crop, and enhance digital images.
Research and pursue opportunities to place articles in internal and external publications.
Maintain the Public Affairs Office's photo archive by labeling and categorizing images appropriately.
Requirements
- Temporary Appointment NTE – Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 31 DEC 2024. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Produce news articles and feature stories with accompanying photos; 2) Pursue opportunities to place articles in internal and external publications; AND 3) Convey accurate and timely information in print and electronic formats to inform and educate internal and external audiences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: advertising, communications, public affairs or a related field of study. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
