About the Position: Position is located at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Duties

Plan, advises, prepare, and release information on the Defense Health Agency, DHA Augusta Market, MTF and the installation and community organizations programs, policies, and functions. Measure social engagements across all channels using analytics and social listening tools and evaluates audience insight and research to inform strategies. Devise an information dissemination and education plan for eligible beneficiaries within the assigned catchment area with a focus on those assigned to the DHA Market. Participate in the preparation and publishing of material for patient educational materials. Manage the Commander's public affairs/community relations efforts. Prepare the preparation of information materials such as articles, speeches, and press releases.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Serve as an on-call public affairs officer at the discretion and need of the MTF Commander and may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes editing speeches, memos, and or publications; presenting written or oral information to target audiences; and responding to media requests for interviews and press opportunities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Affairs or Communications. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselCommunications and MediaMultimedia Technologies Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
