This is a supervisory, non-bargaining unit position.
The tour of duty for this position is fixed schedule – 12:00pm-8:30pm Monday-Thursday, off Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm Saturday. Special hours are required for evenings and weekends.
Duties
NOTE: The work requires physical acumen and stamina and includes long periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and stooping. The work also involves pushing loaded book carts, and physically relocating library materials. The incumbent must be able to lift light items of up to 15 pounds above the incumbent’s shoulders. A validated pre-placement physical examination is required as a condition of assignment* to this position. (*assignment covers hire, reassignment, detail, RIF etc.) Health Services Division determines if the employee or applicant is medically qualified to perform the duties of the position and meets the physical requirements and/or medical standards as a result of the physical examination.
Qualifications
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
Ability to supervise a diverse workforce.**
Ability to use integrated library system (ILS), other computerized search tools and databases.**
Ability to identify and retrieve material from collections.**
Knowledge of library acquisitions and cataloging rules, practices, and/or procedures.
Ability to interact and meet with others.
Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions to plan and carry out library programs.
Ability to communicate in writing.
Ability to provide training.
Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
