OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Provide all OIG customers a single point of contact for all Information Technology questions, support and communication.
Support Infrastructure components including wide area networking and converged technologies to include managing connectivity to OIG Offices, managing OIG wide area network, telecommunications (phone lines, data and voice circuits) Video conferencing technologies, wireless network, and universal network services such as infrastructure applications (CiscoWorks, WhatsUp Gold, Dell Open Manage, etc).
Deliver a full range of customer support services. Installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades software and hardware. Diagnoses and resolves complex problems in response to customer reported incidents.
Configures and optimizes network servers, hubs, routers, and switches. Diagnoses and resolves network problems.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Completing computer project assignments that are directly related to IT support, AND
Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents; AND
Providing leadership for timely completion of tasks.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
You may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. (In order to be creditable, education must be related to the position being filled with a major study of computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.) Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit. To be qualifying, degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
