OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.

Duties

The Information Technology Specialist , located in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management and Administration, Information Technology (IT) and Data Analysis Division, IT Support Section. The Section is responsible for development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of OIG information systems, technical assistance, network systems management, and service desk & asset management for OIG personnel and offices nationwide. The incumbent administers, develops, delivers, and supports information technology systems and services which require knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods. Acts as a liaison between OIG and Office of Information & Technology personnel.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Completing computer project assignments that are directly related to IT support, AND Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents; AND Providing leadership for timely completion of tasks. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: You may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. (In order to be creditable, education must be related to the position being filled with a major study of computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.) Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit. To be qualifying, degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
