This position is located in DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, 7th Coast Guard District, Base Miami, Naval Engineering Support Unit Miami, Industrial Production Facility, Miami Beach, FL.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible for performing electrical work in support of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Naval Engineering Support Unit, Industrial Operations Division, which involves the repair, alteration, modification, testing, installation and checking of all types of electrical equipment and for evaluating circuitry required to power the equipment of USCG shore and ship units.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.Installing all types of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, converters, Inverters, alternators, frequency modulators, transformers, controllers and switchboards.Maintaining and repairing consisting of selecting and ordering the proper materials and possessing the various skills necessary for the proper installation of this material.Installing new circuits, distribution panels, transformers, outlets, power systems controls, motors, fire alarm systems and air conditioning systems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:*Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)* Knowledge of Electrical Equipment* Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices* Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)* Ability To Use Electrical Drawings* Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work)* Trouble shooting (electrical)National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
