About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Duties

Assist in planning and coordinating recurring studies in the development, review, and analysis of logistics facets of or pertaining to contingency, emergency, mobilization plans and operations. Assist in evaluating and assessing the battalion's capabilities, implementing plans and developing mobilization operations plans and procedures. Initiate approved improvement plan both during and following exercises and/or operations. Provide input on emergency planning and contingency program recommendations based on higher level policies, guidance, and orders. Assist with receiving logistics staff actions requiring coordination of input from commodity managers within the Support Operations (i.e., transportation, supply/services, and maintenance). Provide input in command responses and policy statements relating to logistics mobilization and deployment staff action. Serve as a team member on special projects to include Materiel Readiness, Mobilization, Unit Deployment, Force Modernization, Contingency Stocks, and Command Supply Discipline Program. Gather and analyze a variety of data to determine the battalion's capability to meet required and project support activities. Provide input on draft and final operations plans, policies, procedures, and regulations received concerning accuracy, adequacy, supportability and operational impact.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This is a deployable Department of the Army civilian position. As such, this position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to receive and remain up to date on required immunization(s) for overseas or deployed location.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or to support combat essential systems.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) of any length including six (6) months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain an official passport.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or another related field. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
