Duties
The CFTC is currently hiring students under the Pathways Program. The CFTC offers substantive work that gives interns an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through work experience. Students will be assigned to work with CFTC staff members on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of administrative functions.

- Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as an advanced degree student.
- You must be registered for Selective Service if applicable (www.sss.gov).
- You must be suitable for federal employment.
Qualifications
Pathways Internship Program Qualifications: Students must meet the qualifications requirements by May 31, 2024. The Summer Program will begin Jun 5,2024 thru September 30, 2024. Appointments are NOT TO EXCEED 90 days.
Basic Education Requirements:
A completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.
To qualify for this position at the grade 07 level, applicants must meet the following:
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education by May 31,2024; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision, as described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual for Qualification Standards; and completion of a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position as listed in the basic education requirements.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes assisting higher level staff preparing portions of work papers using automated software; conducting, or participating in interviews; attending meetings to observe and learn interviewing and presentation techniques; and, providing assistance to higher level staff with researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.

Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants that possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and a percentage of the required graduate level education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-5 or higher is creditable.)
To qualify for this position at the grade 09 level, applicants must meet the following:
Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree by May 31, 2024.
or
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes assisting higher level staff preparing portions of work papers using automated software; conducting, or participating in interviews; attending meetings to observe and learn interviewing and presentation techniques; and, providing assistance to higher level staff with researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
