This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Leads, directs and manages all aspects of law enforcement within the Uniformed Police Branch.
Interviews job applicants and recommends appointment or rejection.
Identifies, enhances, implements, and maintains an active antiterrorism/force protection program to protect personnel and facilities.
Reviews and evaluates reports of unusual events, infractions of rules, incidents, suspicious actions, and law violations.
Establishing formal and informal liaisons with appropriate federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and court officials in related jurisdictions.
Responsible for the implementation, and centralized control of the coordinated anti-terrorism and the force protection program.
Accountable for revisions of post, special, and general orders.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required. GPO employee compensated at a pay rate required by Ethics in Government Act to file an annual Financial Disclosure Form and to file reports on sales or purchases of stocks and bonds,
- Financial Disclosure Cont: pursuant to the STOCK Act (Pub.L112-105, as amended by Pub. L. 113-7), must do so according to the established time frame of the agency.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
- FAC-COR Level I Certification Required. Reviews and monitors Uniformed Police Branch contracts and incumbent needs to acquire and maintain a current FAC-COR Level I certification.
- FAC COR Cont.: Interacts with customers, reviews contracts, ensuring procurement requests meet agency requirements. The incumbent is responsible for multiple contracts valued at nearly $200,000.
- FAC COR Cont.: Must be obtained within 12 months of Appointment to the position.
- The incumbent is required to carry a gun, and must pass a physical upon onboarding, maintain and pass an annual physical to establish fitness for duty. Must maintain qualification requirements to use weapons in keeping with agency directives.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Supervisory Security Specialist (Commander), PG - 0080 - 12, you must meet the following requirements:
To qualify for the PG-12 grade level: Minimum qualification requirements for the Supervisory Security Specialist (Commander), PG-0080-12 position can be met by possessing one year of specialized experience at the PG-11 (or equivalent).
Specialized experience is defined as experience at one year of PG-0080-11 level which includes:
1) Manages employee grievances/behavior problems and resolving conflicts.
2) Assisting with implementing new personnel security policies and guidances; and
3) Analyzing collected information to determine targeted areas and identifies specific or general threats.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used or this grade level.
